The Most Common Computer Hardware Problem

What is the most common computer hardware problem? The most common hardware problem in your computer is hard disk failure. What is hard disk failure and what are the things that causing hard disk failure?

When your computer’s hard disk loses its function to be written data to or read data from itself for the centre processing unit (CPU) while you are very sure that it is properly connected and configured to your computer system -it is a hard disk failure. As it fails to read and write, your computer cannot load the operating system (OS) stored in your hard disk, and you literally cannot boot up your computer to use. When you log into your system’s BIOS setup menu, you either do not see the indication of your hard drive which means the volume (hard disk) is not detected present due to hard disk unrecognizable as it ‘lost it function as a hard disk’. In some BIOS, even if there is indication of hard disk present, there would be no detail on the number of heads, cylinders and so fort due to unreadable bad platter surface of your hard disk. For more details and information on how to diagnose your computer problems you may refer to my earlier post on December 2009.

The solution for hard disk failure is just replace your hard disk or send it back to the manufacturer’s outlet to repair as literally not electrician or computer technician can repair your hard disk and even if they know, they might not have the spare parts like hard disk platter which I think can only be mounted in the hard disk but not putting in any kind of shipping container. Yet, the question remains -who is going to responsible for a warranty when a scratch to the platter occurs during handling with the platter with open contact? .

Hard disk failure being the most common hardware problem of our computer because it is a very sensitive, dedicated and fragile component and it exposed to many factors that can lead to its failure. Factors that contribute to hard disk failure including normal ware out related to life span, mechanical components degradation or failure, electrical short-circuit, static electric charge or discharge, mechanical shock or impact and over heating. Well, I do not want to make this post too long and mess up this topic to further elaboration on how each factor contributes to hard disk failure that I have just mention. Instead, I shall choose to make my next or near future post on how to take care of hard disk by revealing more details and taking account into the factors that lead to hard disk failure.
